When and who founded Bethel?

The founders started planning the project in 2002. They received the first 3 children in December 2003. Guillaume and Delphine Gauvain, a French couple started Bethel in their mid twenties.

Where is Bethel?

Our local project Love is Blind is located South West of Beijing in a small village called Dou Dian. However we receive children from all over China, and conduct trainings at a National level.

What is Bethel in a nutshell?

An organization who wants to teach blind orphans how to help themselves.

How is the project structured?

Right now we have a local project called “Love is blind” (providing foster care, education and professional training) and a national project called “Project 555” (providing training to orphanages).

How is the organization structured?

Bethel is governed by a board of directors. Mr. Gauvain is the CEO of the project in China. Bethel is registered in several countries to receive donations but only runs one project in China.

How many children does Bethel help?

At the Love is Blind site we can care for 70 children at a time.
Project 555 has reached 3,600 children so far.

How many people work at Bethel?

The Love is Blind project runs a full scale foster care program (24/7), a school, special education department, medical department and professional training department. LIB employs 80 people. We have a ratio of care taker to children of about 1 to 3.

How much does Bethel need every month?

About 25,000 Euros.

Where do the funds come from?

65% corporate, 55% private. Mainly from HK, USA, France and China.
