How much does it cost to sponsor a child per month?
It costs 35 USD (200rmb, 30 Euro per month) to participate in the sponsorship programme. Other currencies are around the same amount.
The total cost of a Bethel child’s daily living is around 620 USD (4000rmb, 500 Euro) per month. You are welcome to pledge more money per month, just let us know on the sponsorship agreement!
What does the sponsorship money cover?
The sponsorship fund covers basic everyday needs including food, clothes, heating, water, school fees, books, educational supplies, building maintenance and salaries of carers, teachers and other staff at the foster home.
Is my sponsorship like a designated donation for a child?
No. It would be unfair since the cuter children would get more sponsored. Our sponsorship programs are ways to help Bethel meet its operational budget (general fund) which is designed to care for all the children in a comprehensive way (physical, medical, educational, psychological and social).
What will I receive as a sponsor?
After signing the sponsorship agreement, you will receive a Sponsorship Welcome Package. This will include confirmation of your participation in the Bethel sponsorship program, a pdf with information and photographs of your sponsored child (you can request high resolution photographs), and a link to your child’s blog.
Can I correspond with the child?
Yes, you can email them, send packages and even skype with them.
Is there a time commitment for a sponsorship?
We appreciate long-term sponsoring, so that we can budget accordingly. If you are thinking of making a one off donation, you are welcome to become a Bethel donor.
What happens if my sponsored child gets adopted?
If your sponsor child is adopted, we will let you know this wonderful news as soon as possible, and we would encourage you to continue to support Bethel and sponsor another child!
Can I adopt a child?
China has a good adoption program which all has to be processed by the CCAA (China Central Adoption Affairs), and not through the Bethel China Foundation. Orphans under 14 years old in China are adoptable. Please contact your adoption agency.
